Raising funds for the AMAZON WATCH; Protecting the Amazon from deforestation
We support the Amazon watch
To protect the rainforest and advance the rights of indigenous peoples
As we work with natural ingredients, we’re constantly weighing off pro’s and con’s between the environmental standards and our quality standards. It’s why we actively work with our family of local producers and importers, embracing their passion for quality and care for the environment and through one-precent for the planet support local projects that give back to the communities we source from.
This year we are donating to the Amazon Watch which is a nonprofit organization founded in 1996 to protect the rainforest and advance the rights of indigenous peoples in the Amazon Basin. They partner with indigenous and environmental organizations in campaigns for human rights, corporate accountability and the preservation of the Amazon’s ecological systems.
Rainforests sustain us. They help regulate the global climate and are vital to maintaining the earth’s fragile balance. The Amazon rainforest is the world’s largest and most biodiverse tropical rainforest. It houses one-third of the Earth’s plant and animal species and produces one-fifth of all its flowing fresh water. Amazon Watch envision a world where the collective rights of Indigenous peoples and the rights of nature are respected and where healthy forests, biodiversity, and the global climate are fully protected by governments, corporations and civil society.
The Amazon is also home to rare and delicious botanicals from which we source. And because the Amazon removes 2.4 billion metric tons of carbon each year, we want to protect the eco system from which we source. The harrowing truth is that the tipping point for the Amazon rainforest is here. Bold and immediate actions are necessary to make the tipping point a turning point.
