A few words on
Responsibilty
& sustainability
As an independent brand, we don’t have the power to change the world. However, we can set an example and take action to reduce our impact we have on our planet.
By working with our family of local producers and embracing their passion for quality and care for the environment, we’re actively seeking ways to create a positive impact. This sense of unity and collaboration has inspired us to take less and give back.
By donating 1% of our revenue to support the environment, social activism and contributing to responsible sugarcane production, we’re having a genuine, positive, impact in the communities we source from.
Take less & GIVE back
In union with
people & planet
Our mission is to change the way the world thinks about rum. To create rums with real flavour, made using fresh and natural botanicals, produced in a responsible way.
Our name; ‘The Spirited Union’, speaks to our belief that our greatest strength lies in unity. It is this ethos that guides everything we do, which means taking responsibility for our choices and prioritizing the planet and its inhabitants whenever we can.
WE TAX OURSELVES 1% FOR PLANET & PEOPLE
By donating 1% of our revenue to support the environment, social activism and contributing to responsible sugarcane production, we’re having a genuine, positive, impact in the communities we source from.
Take less by adapting a
green mindset
- 92% of our waste in the distillery is re-used or recycled.
- We’ve eliminated unnecessary single-use plastic in the distillery and our packaging.
- We go for longevity and not landfill when it comes to POS and marketing materials.
Take less by reducing our
carbon footprint
- Our new bottle has 31% less glass and 40% recycled glass, which saves 2.6 kg of co2 emissions per bottle.
- We’re a solar-powered distillery and use renewable energy to power our stills Following our eco chain assessment, we are also off-setting our carbon footprint.
Give back by actively supporting
charities & NGO's
- In 2022, we created a non-profit rum and raised 28K for Ukraine victims of war.
- In 2023, we’ve joined 1% for the planet and donated part of our revenue to support the Amazon watch.
- In 2023, we became an active member of the bee society protecting wild bees.
Give back and support fair
work conditions
- We’re an active member of the Bonsucro organization which supports sugarcane farmers to prioritize the environmental impact of sugarcane production through education and creating fair working conditions. This helps create more value for both farms and mills and across the entire sugarcane supply chain.
- Our innovation team is re-engineering our recipes for even more sustainable alternatives. Such as regenerative farming practices in Tanzania and Uganda.
