Spiced Rum

Spirited Union’s first botanical rum was created in 2016 to challenge the spiced rum market. It’s a perfectly balanced rum with raw spice infusions and a touch of mineral salt. Spirited Union Spiced is the perfect substitute in rum cocktails to add more depth and flavour, or in a refreshing mix with ginger beer.

Delicious vanilla with hints of warming spice, a touch of decadent cacao and a rich sea salt finish.

Tip: Substitute sugar syrup for a cane sugar cube. De solve sugar cube and angostura bitters with 15ml rum in base of short drink. Add 2 ice cubes and 15ml spiced rum and stir for 30 seconds. repeat this 3 times to get a full drink.

Multi-Origin Rum

Trinidad & Dominican Republic

Blending rums from different regions brings together unique flavours to create a complex and harmonious spirit. The multi-origin signature blend used in our Spiced rum, featuring rums from Central America, Trinidad, and the Dominican Republic, showcases this craft perfectly.

 

Central American (Nicaraguan) rum is known for its rich, full-bodied flavour with notes of vanilla, caramel, and a hint of spice, thanks to the volcanic soil and tropical climate where the sugarcane is grown.

Trinidadian rum often brings a lighter, more floral profile with subtle hints of tropical fruits and a smooth finish, reflecting the island’s long history of rum production.

Dominican rum adds depth with its well-rounded, slightly sweet character, often featuring notes of toffee, dried fruits, and a touch of oak from ageing in barrels.

When these rums are blended, they create a base rum that is both versatile and flavourful, making it an ideal foundation for our Spirited Union Spiced.

Infused with a touch of

Añana sea salt

Inspired by the ways in which top chefs, chocolatiers and mixologists combine flavours. We’ve infused the finest botanicals from the land into a smooth cask-aged rum. Rounded off with a touch of Añana salt from the sea for a signature flavour.

Añana sea salt is harvested from the ancient salt flats of the Añana Salt Valley in the Basque Country, Spain. Sourced from natural springs, this salt is exceptionally pure and rich in minerals. Hand-harvested using traditional methods, it forms delicate, flat flakes with a clean, intense flavour. Celebrated for its unique texture and taste, Añana sea salt is a favourite among top chefs and food enthusiasts.

Responsibly cultivated

Time and care go into infusing our signature cask-aged rum, with responsibly sourced vanilla. To extract all the flavours out of these sundried vanilla pods, we use a flavour infusion method we call maceration. For each botanical, the alcohol percentage, volume of botanicals and extraction time, varies. Our vanilla macerates for almost 2 months to extract all the aromas needed to make Spirited Union Spiced Rum.

The original recipe since 2016

the evolution Union 55 Rum

Spirited Union was founded as a standalone brand named “Union55” When owner and founder Ruben Maduro created the first rum recipe – behind his home kitchen counter – he started hand blending, bottling and selling from a tiny distillery in Amsterdam.

As trade started embracing this new approach to rum, he opened the current distillery in Amsterdam and re-named the brand “Spirited Union” which symbolises the union between rum and botanicals and celebrated the opening of our spirited home: the distillery.

While the flavour profile of our original recipe has stayed the same over the years, our ingredients and production methods evolved. This year, in 2025, we have decided to go back to the original composition of this rum and re-introduce the original recipe as Spirited Union Spiced
